3 UNIQUE MONUMENTS IN BARCELONA
In the second half of the Industrial Revolution was Barcelona no exception. The response to this great expansion involved an urban transformation that would convert the city into an international benchmark for culture and architecture. These 3 monuments are masterpieces of Gaudi, Josep Puig I Cadafalch and Lluís Domènech I Montaner. Our 3-star hotel Denit right in the city center is always looking for exciting new things to do in the city for our guests.
In the neighbourhood of Gracia, you will find this building covered with spectacular green and white tiles. This building was built between 1883 and 1888 and one of the first masterpieces of Modernism and the beginning of Gaudi´s artistic career. If you take the metro (L3) at Plaza Catalunya to Fontana, you will be there in 15 minutes!
Casa de les Punxes
The Terrades family was an important family in Barcelona in the beginning of the twentieth century. The family gave Josep Puig I Cadafalch the order to build a building for the three sisters of the family. Josep Puig I Cadafalch is one of the most important architects of the Catalan modernism style and he designed this building in 1905, inspired by the medieval gothic architecture. The Casa de les Punxes is 20 minutes walking from the Hotel Denit or you can take the metro (L3) to Diagonal.
The Modernista Sant Pau Complex
In 1401 opened the Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau in the middle of Barcelona. In the end of the nineteenth century, the hospital became to small because of the rapid growth of Barcelona´s population. Lluís Domènech I Montaner designed a new building for more people and this is build between 1902 and 1930. The building is not a real hospital anymore, but it will take you on a journey through the history of medicine in Barcelona. From the Denit is it easily accessible with the bus (45-Horta) to Avinguda Gaudi.
